Lady Anne, the only surviving daughter of Arthur Capel and Lady Elizabeth Percy, was the sister of Algernon, 2nd Earl of Essex. She was married on 25 July, 1683, at the remarkably early age of nine, to Charles Howard, who became the Earl of Carlisle in 1692.
