Goal-den Years, 1996-2001: Memories:

"A great and honourable man"
By Matt Kent
Martin's, on the corner of Vicarage Road

Graham Taylor with Matt Kent.

I was privileged to get hold of some tickets for the WFC Players Award Ceremony 2001, which happened to be Graham Taylor last, and Tommy Mooneys' for that matter. It was a great opportunity to meet and talk to other players, but most of all to congratulate Graham on being a fine and respected ambassador for Watford Football Club and football in general.

The man was chatting to another person at the time, but when politely interrupted by myself when asking for a photograph, he kindly obliged and asked me who I was, and how long I had been supporting the Goldenboys. After we had finished our quick chat he whole heartedly said, 'Promise me you'll just keep supporting those Hornets'.

He was a great and honourable man. A man who was Watford through and through. He was Mr.Watford.
