Primary Education

Watford Museum is currently offering a WW1 workshop particularly aimed at KS2 to mark the centenary. For more details please view the workshop outline (493KB PDF file, opens in new window).

Other workshops related to the National Curriculum are also available, for more details please contact our Learning Officer.

Each workshop includes a chance to look around the museum with an I-Spy or historical themed trail.

Secondary Education

WW1 Memorial Trail - Watford Museum have created a WW1 Memorial Trail that allows students to explore Watford's war memorials at local churches, Watford Fields, Watford Museum and the Town Hall. For more information about using this trail, please contact the Learning Officer.

Your school are also more than welcome to visit the museum on your own self led discovery. We do advise that you ring prior to visiting, to reduce clashes with our other events and to get the most out of your visit.

Loans Boxes

Watford Museum have a fantastic range of loans boxes for schools and community groups to borrow. These include:

  • Victorian Domestic
  • Victorian School
  • WW2
  • WW2 Evacuees Suitcase

We also have two resource boxes filled with photographs, newspaper articles, paper replicas and a DVD of images. These include

High Street Trails

Does your class, group or society want to learn more about Watford's Local History?

Then why not book one of our walking High Street Trails! These walking tours are led by our Learning Officer, and are a great way to learn about the architectural and social history of Watford from the buildings and streets that surround us. Family Activities

Explore Watford Museum's collections with our interactive activity tables! Have a go at an I-Spy trail, piece together an Anderson Shelter, find out what belongs in a Victorian Home and use our magic dice to discover a new object! These activities are available everyday the museum is open.
