Watford History Talks

Join Mayor Peter Taylor and Watford Museum Curator Sarah Priestley with special guests as they present educational talks on a varied range of topics about Watford's history. 

These talks are aimed at school children, however everybody is welcome - especially those who would like to know more about the history of our town. 

These are being held via facebook live on Watford Together's facebook page or Peter Taylor - Mayor of Watford facebook page at 2.15pm on the following days:

 

Thursday 25 February 2021 - Watford at War

The Mayor and Museum Curator will be joined by guest speaker Kenneth Appel, a local resident and survivor of the Holocaust who will be talking about how Watford was in 1945 and the effect the second world war had on the town as well as his own life.  There will be a short presentation by Kenneth followed by a Q&A session afterwards.

Thursday 4 March 2021 - Victorian Watford

This week's speaker Lynda Bullock is a local resident and historian who will be talking about Victorian Watford and the work house bricks.
There will be a short presentation by Lynda followed by a Q&A session afterwards.

Thursday 11 March 2021 - Watford Football Club

A guest speaker from Watford FC will talk about the history of the club and the community outreach side as well. There will be a short presentation followed by a Q&A session afterwards.

Thursday 18 March 2021 - Watford in 50 Buildings 

Joining the Mayor and Museum Curator will be guest speaker Paul Rabbitts as they talk about the history of Watford through looking at the architecture and story behind the buildings in our town. Paul Rabbitts works for the council and has also written books on its history.
There will be a short presentation by Paul followed by a Q&A session afterwards.
