Did you know that the two main industries in Watford’s past were printing and brewing?
In its heyday Watford was actually the largest centre for printing in Europe. Printing companies included Sun and Odhams. Brewing was an important industry in Watford, Benskins Brewery became the biggest of the breweries in the area. Joseph Benskin bought the brewery and mansion that became Watford Museum in 1867, but brewing on this site goes back to the 18th Century.
