Accessibility Statement for the Museum of Watford website
This statement applies to www.watfordmuseum.org.uk
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. That means you should be able to:

-
Zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen
-
Navigate most of the site using just a keyboard
-
Use screen readers to access most content
-
Adjust colours, contrast levels and fonts to suit your needs
We’ve also aimed to make the text as simple as possible to understand.
How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. Based on the latest accessibility monitoring report
(October 2025), the following issues have been identified and are not yet rectified:

• The website does not reflow correctly at 400% zoom, requiring both horizontal and vertical scrolling to view
content
• Some text has very low colour contrast against its background
• Images have alternative text that may be unclear, overly long, or misleading
• A linked image is missing alternative text
• A heading level is skipped, which may affect page structure and navigation
• Some text is very small and may be difficult to read
• Underlined text is used for emphasis and may be confused with links
• Icons or buttons have missing or empty alternative text
• The language attribute is missing or unclear
• Heading levels (H1, H2) are used inconsistently and may not follow a logical structure
• Unordered lists can lead to unclear structure or semantic meaning
• Structural elements such as header, navigation, main content, footer, and generic regions are present
but not clearly defined
• Labels that help screen readers and keyboard users are inconsistent, including missing descriptions,
too many tab stops, and unclear popups

We are actively working to address these issues and improve accessibility across the site.
