"Museum on Tour" is a series of events which kicked off in October 2023. They are breathing new life into the past, creating an immersive experience that connects everyone with Watford's vibrant historical roots.

Dig to Disover 
Summer Dates 

The Museum of Watford’s much-loved Dig to Discover experience is back this summer, bringing Watford’s ancient history to life for children and families across the town.
 

Perfect for ages 5–12, Dig to Discover invites young explorers to get hands-on with archaeology through fun, engaging activities that reveal the secrets of Watford’s Iron Age past. No booking is required – just turn up and join the fun.
 

What to expect:

  • Explore a mock excavation site and uncover real and replica Iron Age finds

  • Create your own take-home crafts inspired by local archaeological discoveries

  • Learn the fascinating story behind the Watford Hoard and other ancient artefacts

• Who can attend: Kids of all ages are welcome, but please remember that children must be supervised at all times to ensure their safety.

• Booking: No advance booking or resources required, though expect potential short wait times during peak hours. Our museum staff will assist you during this self-guided event.
