



"Watford Museum on Tour" is a series of events which kicked off in October 2023. They are breathing new life into the past, creating an immersive experience that connects Watfordians with their vibrant historical roots.

Perfect for children aged 5–12 and their families, no booking required – just turn up and join the fun!
Join Museum of Watford (MOW) on tour this May half-term for a hands-on adventure into Watford’s ancient past!

Become a young archaeologist for the day as you uncover hidden treasures, craft your own keepsakes, and learn the fascinating story of Watford’s incredible Iron Age hoard.

Activities include:

Dig to Discover - Roll up your sleeves and explore our mock archaeological dig! Uncover real and replica Iron Age and Bronze Age items buried in the earth. Use your new archaeology skills to help solve a mysterious puzzle from the past.

Make & take - Get inspired by one of Watford’s most remarkable finds – a rare Phoenician bowl from the Iron Age. Create your very own amulet or keepsake box to take home, just like the ancient people of Watford might have used.

Discover the Watford Hoard - Find out more about the amazing Iron Age hoard discovered right here in Watford – including the rare Phoenician bowl that has helped historians piece together the town’s ancient story.
